NORTH CARROLL STORM FIELD HOCKEY

North Carroll Recreation Council STORM Field Hockey is a member of the Maryland Youth Field Hockey League . Children entering grades Pre-K to 8th grade (and 9th graders that do not play for any high school) are eligible for participation in the fall 2024 season.

FALL 2024 REGISTRATION 


Fall 2024 registration will open Wednesday, May 1, 2024 and will close Friday, May 31, 2024 . Any registration received after 11:50 pm on May 31, 2024 will be charged an additional late registration fee of $25.00 and participants cannot be guaranteed a uniform prior to the first game. No registrations will be accepted after June 19, 2024. New and experienced players welcome!!


ANTICIPATED FALL PRACTICE SCHEDULES & HOME FIELDS LOCATION (SUBJECT TO CHANGE)


For grades Pre-K / K, it is anticipated that all regular season practices will be held at Manchester Elementary School in Manchester, MD, 6 sessions. The practice day will be Wednesday.

For the grades 1-2, it is anticipated that all regular season practices will be held at Manchester Elementary School in Manchester, MD on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Play Days and/or scrimmages will be on Saturdays.

For grades 3-4, it is anticipated that all regular season practices will be held at Manchester Elementary School in Manchester, MD on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Games will be on Sundays. Registration includes one paid tournament per player.

For grades 5-6, it is anticipated that all regular season practices will be held at Manchester Elementary School in Manchester, MD on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Games will be on Sundays. Maryland Youth Field Hockey has instituted A/B teams. We will have evaluations to determine team placement. Registration includes one paid tournament per player.

For grades 7-8, it is anticipated that all regular season practices be held at Manchester Elementary School in Manchester, MD on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Games will be on Sundays. Maryland Youth Field Hockey has instituted A/B teams. We will have evaluations to determine team placement. Registration includes one paid tournament per player.

Turf: We are working with Coppermine 4 Seasons to incorporate some practices on turf for Grades 3 – 9 for the Fall 2024 season.

If your child is chosen to participate in any additional tournaments with a tournament team, there may be possible additional practices on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings (TBA) as well as additional cost.


FALL EQUIPMENT

Each player will need to purchase/obtain a field hockey stick, a mouth guard (cannot be white or clear), cleats, and shin guards. 


Uniforms are required for all players in grades 1-9 and are not included in the registration fee. Players may use fall 2018 storm uniforms (must provide jersey number) or may order new ones for the 2024 season.

- Pre-K/K athletes will receive a t-shirt with registration, a uniform in not needed.

- First and Second grade will need a game jersey and socks. The youth jerseys tend to run small. It’s best to choose a larger size for future use. 

- Third through Ninth grade will need a jersey, kilt, practice reversible, and socks. The youth jerseys tend to run small. It’s best to choose a larger size for future use. * If you already have a practice reversible from last season, a new one does not need to be purchased. Please purchase a practice reversible if you are new to the program or do not have one.


New uniform costs are as follows:

Game Jersey: $31.00
Kilt: $23.00

Practice Reversible: $13.00
Socks: $5.50/pair


2024 Fall Season Registration Fees


Grades Pre- K / K: $60.00
Grades 1-2: $110.00 (uniform not included)
Grades 3-4: $140.00 (uniform not included)
Grades 5-9: $160.00 (uniform not included)


Specific Information for Children Entering Grades PreK-K

* Practices start mid-August and continue through the end of September/ beginning of October. Pre-K/K practices run 45mins - 1 hour once a week.


Specific Information for Children Entering Grades 1-2

* Practices start mid-August and continue through the end of October each year. Grade 1 & 2 practices are typically 1.0-1.5 hours long and are held twice per week and consist of running, stick skills, basic positions, team building and lots of FUN! *Please note that we cannot guarantee any player/parent requests for a specific coach or teams. Players have the opportunity to participate in league 'play days' and scrimmages on Saturday mornings. *Some travel is required (usually less than 45 minutes) for the play days. * Grades 1-2 are required to purchase only a jersey and black socks.


Specific Information for Children Entering Grades 3-8

* Mandatory practices start on or about (August 12th ) and continue through the end of October/beginning of November each year. Failing to attend practice may impact playing time/starting during games. *Practices for these age groups are typically 1 ½ to 2 hours long, are held twice a week and consist of running, stick skills, learning positions, and team building. *Team placement will be completed the first week of September. *Please note that we cannot guarantee any player/parent requests for a specific coach or team. Players must play in their specific age group unless their previous year coach recommends advancement in lieu of the player’s 2nd year in an age group and the board approves the same (cannot be parent or player request). * Grades 3-8 play regular season games on Sunday afternoons starting the Sunday after Labor Day each year. * Additional tournaments may be offered to select participants as an option at an additional cost per player/team at the coaches’ discretion. There is no guarantee of tournament play for any player and all tournament/elite players will be determined by coach selection. *Some travel is required (usually less than 45 minutes) as we play teams from Carroll County, Hereford County, Howard County, and Baltimore County. 


Refund Policy

Any refund that is issued will be subject to a $10.00 administrative fee.
